Mental Health Awareness Week

This year Mental Health Awareness Week is focusing on the topic of loneliness. This is an issue that has only gotten worse for many people throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Looking after our mental health isn’t just something we should do if we are feeling low, anxious or stressed. It is actually something we should think about all the time!
Top tips for looking after your mental health
- Live in the present – be aware of yourself and be in the present moment, notice your own thoughts and feelings.
- Get good quality sleep – quality sleep makes a big difference to how we feel mentally and physically.
- Connect with others – spending quality time with friends or family, talking to someone about how you are feeling or finding ways to help other people can all help stop loneliness. This can be in person, online or over the phone.
- Be social – step out of your comfort zone and do a new activity with friends. New experiences can help improve your mood and self confidence.
- Live healthily – being active, enjoying the outdoors and having a healthy, balanced diet all impact how we feel.
- Get outdoors – taking a walk or exploring a new location out in the fresh air, either alone or with friends can improve your mood drastically .
- Have some ‘you’ time – whether it be a hot bath, enjoying your favourite hobby, learning something new or simply taking time to relax, it’s important to do things that make you happy.

Remember to look out for your friends and colleagues, check in with them and see how they are really doing.
Happy mental health week from all staff here at BF Mulholland!
